The Man Who Found His Way Out

Eyes followed him everywhere, afraid of what people might say
This fear has made his life dark, plain, boring, and gray
But as he found more courage, he realized that it must go away
He must find a way out to the world for he is ready to play.

He checked himself to make sure that what he feels within is true
To make the announcement to the world easier to chew
His stay in the dark closet has been a little far overdue
The joy will be his once this bewilderment is through.

Some said he is confused, but he knows he isn’t, that’s for sure
His sexuality and attraction to men is nothing but pure
Acceptance and understanding is all he needs to procure
The judgment and discrimination, he is ready to endure.

He stepped out of the closet with his pride held up high
He is ready to live his life like there’s always a rainbow in the sky
He is gay and proud, and there’s no need for him to deny
Indeed, he found his way out, and now he is more than ready to fly.

Every Friday, I’ll be posting short stories and poetry that will hit you right in the feels. Want to send a contribution? Click here.
